Brad S. Gregory (n. 1963), profesor de istorie europeana la Universitatea Notre Dame (SUA), este un cercetator marcant al perioadei Reformei protestante, dar si al contributiei disputelor religioase din secolele XVI-XVII in alcatuirea modernitatii. Este autorul unui mare numar de studii si al unor monografii multipremiate, Salvation at Stake: Christian Martyrdom in Early Modern Europe (1999), The Unintended Reformation: How a Religious Revolution Secularized Society (2012, tradusa in volumul de fata), Rebel in the Ranks: Martin Luther, the Reformation, and the Conflicts That Continue to Shape Our World (2017).
