Descriere - Leadership and liability. An examination of Romanias support for Soviet-based military action
Lucrarea analizeaza contextul si factorii necesari pentru ca Romania sa fi sustinut o actiune militara sovietica in perioada imediat urmatoare incheierii Pactulul de la Varsovia. Concentrandu-se pe perioada cuprinsa intre 1956-1968, autoarea analizeaza mai multi factori posibili precum: schimbarile interne la nivelul conducerii, impactul nationalismului asupra politicii interne si externe a autoritatilor comuniste romane si contextul geopolitic regional.
This book seeks to explore the necessary conditions for Romania to support Soviet-based Military Action, predominantly the incidents that involved the Warsaw Pact between the dates of 1956 and 1968. This essay considers four possible factors: domestic changes in leadership, the effect of nationalism on Romania's internal and external policy, and the geopolitical context of the region. Through these historical lenses, this paper asserts that, despite the import of nationalism, foreign political actors provided the most critical foundation for dissent by virtue of political and financial support.
